A Year of Leadership & Industry Recognition

In 2025, Strut proudly celebrated major milestones in leadership and professional recognition within the hair restoration and wellness industry.

Our CEO, Helena Gibson, Board Certified Drugless Practitioner and Trichologist, was honored as a San Diego Icon by Modern Luxury Magazine. A recognition that highlights her commitment to education, ethical hair loss solutions, and client-centered care.

Helena was also named a finalist for San Diego Business Journal’s Business Women of the Year, received the CEO Leader of Influence Award from the County of San Diego, and won the Trade + Craft “Pioneer” Award at San Diego Magazine’s Celebrating Women Summit. These honors reflect not only leadership but also innovation in scalp health, trichology, and confidence restoration.

Our New Location in Cardiff-by-the-Sea

Helena Gibson founded Strut Hair Solutions 21 years ago to help women struggling with thinning hair, a mission that began with her mother. “Her scalp would sunburn if she was in the sun too long or she’d avoid dating and social events because of her hair,” Gibson recalls. “I knew other women must feel the same way.”

She identified a void in the market for women with genetic thinning, like her mother, temporary hair loss due to menopause or post-partum and/or medical hair loss caused by chemotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania and other conditions.

It’s important to understand the main differences between the two and when each one should be worn!

Hand tied wigs, or full lace wigs, sound exactly like what they are; a lace fabric base in which synthetic or human hair is tied to and worn over the scalp. These can be 100% hand tied with human hair wigs or can be a combination of processed and hand tied wigs. Full lace wigs cover the whole scalp and can be worn with different hair styles underneath. They are usually worn with a wig cap because they cover the whole head. They are better suited for more temperate climates because they do not offer much breathability and can get very hot in the summer.
